A little bit of fashion & a little bit of that

The Bold Act May 6, 2010

Summer is about being bold, right? Besides naked:D But bold and naked are quite linked, don’t you think?

So here’s the thing – I am usually bold and naked but.. I almost never reveal my legs. And no, I don’t have big, fat, ugly or whatever you may think legs. It is just that I don’t feel comfortable revealing them too much; it is like I feel that people will be staring at them rather than looking me in my eyes while talking.

This summer, however, this is about to change! And I mean it:) I have firmly decided to be bolder and more naked – leg-wise 😀  Oh, yeah, I am 100% convinced now that I am definitely about to buy me some shorts. I have already done some research on the matter and now I am about to show you some of my favourites.

Bold enough, are ya?:) (Photo: Victoria's Secret)

Tough choice! Denim shorts are an absolute must this summer, especially if you are in the party mood like I am (or at least I hope I will be, thank  God weekend is near!). Besides the apparent benefit of keeping you cool, denim shorts reveal your legs combining trendy and useful in order to add to that sexy but sassy leisure look we all desire for the summer.

Obviously, some of you prefer simplicity and would feel these suggestions are far too extravagant and heads-turning. I have thought about that:) Hereunder are my two favourite neat pairs I found online. The good thing about them is that you can get very very creative with your top or shoes or make-up.

Vintage denim boy shorts

To conclude with, I can see how much guys are being excluded when it comes to fashion blogs, etc.  I decided therefore to prove that some of that all-female talk is not a hundred percent all-female. Trends are trends and most of the time they apply to both sexes. Denim shorts are such so there you go my dear guys, take a look and pick a fave. And let us all say a big HI to summer! 😀

Which designer got it best? April 25, 2010

What is your vote?

Spot the ten differences! Nah, I’m joking. Nonetheless, can you see how similar these two outfits are? They both accentuate  the rock chic in us – great leather jackets, rock but stylish boots and dark make-up (it’s a must!). Still, they are quite different in that Cavalli – as one can expect – mixed rock with his favourite animal print, the zebra in this case. It came out lovely, do you agree? Despite my deep Cavalli affection, I still can’t seem to choose and favor any of the outfits. Blumarine’s rock but feminine and glam outfit is too gorgeous to miss out.

What is your say?

Shoes, ladies and gentlemen! April 18, 2010

All you read or hear recently – fashionwise of course – is about denim’s comeback, how great it is, how trendy, etc.

But wait.. what about us – the ones who never really gave up denim; the ones whose wardrobe – trouserswise – is hardly anything else but 90% denim and jeans? What are we supposed to say? Am I to be surprised?

Denim has been around forever for me. Practically, all I wear is jeans (except in those occassions where I have to go to an interview or smthng)(ha, and weddings!)!

Hence, I think the biggest trend for upcoming summer will NOT be denim.. simply because it has always been trendy to wear it so I can’t really see the big deal here. Sure, there is the ‘bolder’ – by design and colour/paint – kind of denim – tye-die to die for (:P) – which might look new but when you look at it more carefully, you might see a well-forgotten old.

What’s my point? Shoes, ladies and gentlemen, will be the trend-setter and statement-maker. I nearly lost breath the other night when i opened my e-mail and saw the newsletter of Victoria’s Secret. Here I’ve extracted some of my favourites for you to admire and agree with me on how gorgeous they are!

I want them all! If I only lived in America..

Plenty of colour, detail, boldness and a new level of flirtiness are yet not enough to describe this new collection. The ‘love life and have fun at all times’ theme is transmitted to us by those genious designers. All we need to do is wear any of those pairs to feel brand new and all pimped-up (haha)! 😀

For the more glam, feminine and ellegant babes – Fendi here is taking care of you! Check those STUNNING heels out! I can’t helping falling in love each and every time i look at this photo! Ahhh..

Fendi's perfect suggestions for this summer

OR maybe you like heels but you are more on the tough-chic/rock/hippy/indie wave? No probz! Emilio Pucci’s got it in mind and here come his spring/summer suggestions. Choose & pick! Can you? I am quite confuuuuseeedd! They all look  SPEC-TA-CU-LAR!

Emilio Pucci's rock princesses' shoes

ETRO's shoes telling the tale of why it is GREAT to be a woman!

It is all about the TIES in Etro’s collection for this season. Their suggestions are so romantic and chic at the same time, you gotta love them! Besides that, they look comfy and will keep you feet cool and trendy at all times 😀 (I have to add that it comes as a shock to me but the flat is my favourite one of the pictured above, I WANT IT so bad!)

Want something EVEN bolder? Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Blumarine and Versace are here to serve you and your whims. Whether you are looking for the strong woman or the Alice in Wonderland look, or you simply desire something new, odd, stylish and sexy all at the same time, the best names in fashion are surely going to inspire you I believe.  There is something for everyone 🙂

Shoe heaven?! MMMmmm...YES!

The bottom line  is that it is ALL about the HEELS this spring/summer! I know, i know they are so hard to walk on – believe me, I still haven’t learnt how to walk on these thingies but this just doesn’t stop me from wanting them and – unfortunately for my bf – buying them 😀

If you can’t afford heels – due to height issues, etc. – don’t worry! There is plenty of flat versions which are eye-catching enough to make you blush! Simply decide on your preferred style or look you wish to achieve and go for it! Im with you!

Now the ball is in your field:) I would really like to hear from you ladies:) Which one is your favourite pair? Which one would you love to wear? Whish suggestion makes you dizzy? 🙂 Spell it out!  And.. have a nice shopping!

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! March 30, 2010

Recently I talked about prints and patterns and how fashionable they are these days. In my older post I talked about their actual and practical wearableness and how to strike the right balance of prints without going over all possible limits. Well, well, Mischa Barton has obviously not read my blog 😀 Here is what I could easily call ‘the prints and patterns disaster’ .. because she really is!

Don’t get me wrong here, i do love her and her OC performance. No matter how cute you are though, you can’t afford this  ”leopard plus everything else that could make me look EVER more awful” combination!

So what is wrong with her? Okay. I am quite sure it is indeed a lovely coat with even more lovely leopard prints. However, even my 16yrs old brother would point out that:

* leopard should not be combined with flower prints (i can see a flower printed dress hiding down there)

*pink/violet tights/leggings?? AND LEOPARD?        R-r-right!

*GREEN bag on top of all that? Hmmm.. I say ‘Hell NO’.

*I am sure you are guessing this one right – red lipstick + violet tights = ‘i am surely not saying hi to you next time i meet you on the street’..

Just for the record, I assume the photo has been taken while Mischa was on set.

Still, who would let some director or producer do this to them!?

Let’s not bare them legs out yet March 22, 2010

I have been thinking and wondering how a necessity might suddenly become an accessory – exactly like a Ray Ban but that is another story.

This, indeed, is a wonderful thing for us ladies especially with regards to TIGHTS. Yeah, tights… once used by women mainly in winter and under clothes to keep them warm. Nowadays, we can finally look at them not only as necessary underwear but also as a tool to make a statement 🙂 I so love this splendid fact. To be honest, I have started using daring colors and bold combinations just recently but I already can’t have enough of it. What about you?

I think words aren’t necessary so I will just let the picture hereunder speak for itself.

Finally, I urge you the following: I know the sun’s tempting and all.. but please,

Let’s not bare them legs out yet! 😉

SPRINGY flowers or stripes? March 16, 2010

Spring is coming! Are you ready for it?

Right when I thought I was ready, snows hit us from somewhere. But this uneventful happening simply gave us more time to prepare for the much awaited arrival of her Majesty The Spring 😀 And today I see the sun which is still very shy but manages to send the message intended: GET READY to throw all those heavy clothes!

I am so eager to throw mine away and get into some happy, colourful and loving-life clothes. As such I mainly have in mind flowers and stripes – obviously it is not just me but all major brands and designers with their new collections are clearly making a statement what spring inspiration is all about. The same way as flowers and trees and nature in general come back to life in spring, people come back to life with warmth and sun by completely changing their outfit – from grey and black it suddenly becomes HAPPY.

HAPPY is definitely the right word for me to describe this amazing transformation of patterns, colours and shapes of clothing pieces.

Do you love stripes? ‘Coz I love stripes! Sailor stripes have been here for quite a while but have mainly been associated with summer – sun, sea, ships, stripes 🙂 This time around they are here to announce spring’s comeback.

stripes mania?

I assume the message intended sounds like this: don’t wait for summer to come in order to have fun and wear something fun, DO IT NOW! Besides being fun to wear and damn good-looking, stripes have the ability to also flatter your figure when used accordingly – vertical ones make you look thinner and horizontal ones make you curvy. Nice and useful optical illusion, ha?

Flowers instead are the symbol of spring and rebirth. They are romantic and have the power of ‘crowding’ love and positivism in the air. What else could you possible need with our financial crisis in the background?!

I do have something even more important to say though; here it is: Dresses, dresses, dresses!

It comes as a shock to me to be a dresses supporter since I have been quite famous for my ‘dress alergy’ for years and years now. What is happening? I have come to the conclusion that the time when a girl starts craving dresses is the time when she is finally growing up to be a women – a feminine one 🙂 Dresses are this piece of women’s wardrobe that is just so magical, so fairy tale-like. Let’s start our spring fairy tale, shall we ladies? Hereunder is what I have in mind. Don’t forget to tell me what you think!

P.S. what flower/striped pieces do you already have in your closet and what do you plan to own soon 😉 ?

Animal Prints March 8, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — fashionmighty @ 2:38 PM

I decided to kick off my attempt for a fashion blog with a view/discussion on the so controversial trend of the animal prints. Who doesn’t love them? But, on the other hand, who are those that do love them?

Some of you will be quite surprised of my claim that animal prints are controversial since it had been around for some time now and it had established itself as a fashionable trend and not just a fad. However, there are those little countries where the majority of people follow trends using other than the worlds fashion capitals’ catwalks sources. It is there where controversy sparks off.

The proponents of animal prints on/as clothes say they are bold, sexy and fun. The opponents, on the other side, say that it is just ‘too much’. Which side do you belong to? To me, there seem to be considerable sense in both these statements.

Whether you like the trend or not you have to admit that it is exotic. However, it too can sometimes hurt the eye if its exoticness is too imposing. The conclusion I have reached for myself is that I do love animal prints but they have to be used with caution and one needs to be aware of the right quantity of them. How much is enough?

Animal printed top, belt, bag, shoes – these used on their own are exactly enough to cast that mysterious spell over you and will ensure you obtain an envious amount of eyes staring at your print. At the end, this is the correct purpose of an animal print – to get you noticed. It goes without saying then that these kinds of prints are not suitable for shy or willing to mix with the crowd individuals.

Let us not forget that almost every rule in life has its exceptions. Same goes for animal prints – exceptions to the rule of ‘keep it bold but non-imposing’ do exist and I will use the chance to show you what these exceptions are to me with pictures rather than words:)

Finally, if you love a trend, don’t be afraid to show this love to the world. If you love animal prints, embrace them and determine for yourself what is right and wrong when it comes to quantity and then .. go get ready to be the star of the night! 😉
